Is Therapy Really Confidential?
The Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) protects you against any unauthorized uses and disclosures of your protected health information. We have policies, procedures and systems to ensure our ongoing commitment to comply with HIPAA regulations. We assure you that all of your visits are confidential. Any communication to you and about you is with your consent only! What you tell us will stay with us–That is our promise!
Will my insurance cover the costs of treatment?
Most insurance companies do pay for counseling. We accept all major Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs) including but not limited to: Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Behavioral Health, Magellan, Great West, Aetna, Cigna, Humana, Value Options, Coventry, and Unicare. We recommend that prior to your first visit that you call your insurance company to find out what your benefits are for Out-Patient Counseling. You may do this by calling the customer service number listed on your insurance card. Please ask for the following:
- What are my outpatient mental health benefits?
- What is my deductible and how much has been applied to the deductible?
- What is my co-payment?
- Do I need pre-certification or pre-authorization?
- Is there a maximum number of visits I can have per year or lifetime?
- Are there are any restrictions?
Please remember that a quote on insurance benefits is not a guarantee of coverage and the client is responsible for all fees not reimbursed by the insurance company.
